MANIT
Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), an Institute of National Importance, formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), is India's one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. The institute has been named after the great scholar, educationist, and the first Education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Govt. of India and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh jointly sponsored the Institute in 1960 to attract bright young students across the country. Presently, along with about 200+ faculties and 4000 students, the institute is successfully meeting the objectives of producing skilled manpower of the highest quality to cope up with the challenges of eve revolving industrial needs of the country.
MME Department
The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering(MME) was established in the year 2007 and is dedicated to the advancement of education and research in materials and metallurgical engineering. It had initiated teaching programs at the bachelor's degree level and master's degree level in 2007 and 2012 respectively.
At present, the department has a faculty strength of 10 (6 permanent and 4 on contract/adjunct). The department is in its initial growth stage and is supported by the eminent scientists, academia. The department is having a B.Tech programme on Materials & Metallurgical Engineering and one M.Tech Programme on Materials Science and Technology. The research interests of the department encompass advanced materials including nanomaterials, thin films, ceramics, polymers, structure-property relationships in metallic and non-metallic materials, and advanced composites, in addition to the core areas like process metallurgy, extractive metallurgy, physical metallurgy, and mechanical behavior of materials. The department has developed state-of-art facilities for materials processing and characterization to support academic programmes and research and consultancy activities. The faculties of the department are dynamic and enthusiastic to do research and consultancy.
